But at Wholegrain Milling Co., we didn’t choose sustainability because it was fashionable. We’ve been doing it for more than forty years, long before it had a name anyone cared about. Because to us, it was simply the right thing to do. Why? Because it makes everything better.

Every single grain is fully traceable and sourced from Certified Sustainable or Organic Australian farms.

Our grains come from sustainable crops grown in healthy soils and are rich in minerals.

A higher natural protein content supports dough development, enhancing structure and texture for superior baking results.

We source only chemical residue‑free grains and store them without using any chemicals to preserve integrity and quality.

Better for our environment

Every single grain we mill comes from either a Certified Sustainable farm using regenerative practices that focus on soil and crop health, or a Certified Organic farm where no chemical inputs are used. But it gets better, because the carbon footprint is up to 54% less than conventional flour. And supporting better farming methods benefits all of us through healthier soils, less water runoff and no chemical residue.

That’s why we produce modern, heritage and ancient wheat flour and retain our own custom-designed mill stones and associated machinery — so that artisan bakers have greater choice of quality flours and so we help retain more wheat varieties for biodiversity.

Wholegrain Milling Co. is part of the local fabric. We were born in Gunnedah and grew up here. Our mill and our partnerships with farmers create jobs and contributes to the local economy. And we’re also pretty good on the local footy field.
